50 Years New Glenn of California Dresser

Oh man.  I love it when I find and get to restore pieces like this one.  Awesome design and good enough shape that the final product came out flawless.  This design could easily be dropped into a Room and Board showroom as well as a vintage furniture gallery.  Thompson's design truly shows that good design is timeless.

Walnut dresser by Glenn of California. Glenn of California, along with Thayer Coggin, represented the "mod-est" of the mid century modern movement with designers such as Milo Baughman, Greta Magnusson Grossman and John Kapel. This set, by Richard Thompson features walnut and rosewood construction. Some of the outstanding points in this set are the solid walnut legs that extend up the sides and the raised top edge as well as the solid walnut full length stretchers across the front. Most pieces from the era labeled "walnut" used walnut veneers on the case and other materials such as pecan, elm or beech for the legs and other solid pieces. On this set, all those are solid, richly figured walnut. The pop out drawer pulls are sculpted of solid rosewood. Even the drawer dividers inside the case are 3/4" plywood instead of a thin ply or pressed wood.

If you could find one of these, you'd likely pay  $2000 plus for a piece in vintage condition.  This piece is in essentially new condition.
