Jerry Johnson Chrome Lounge Chair

This chair looks very similar to the side chairs I offered in a previous post.  However, this chair is constructed to be a lounge chair and not a side chair.  It is wider and lower than the other chairs.  This one also incorporates a swiveling suspension mechanism so the back and seat can move with the user as they lean back.  It makes this chair quite comfortable.  It also uses a reverse cantilever chromed tubular frame.  This gives the seat a floating appearance.  The cushions have been reupholstered in a modern patterned fabric by Carnegie.

The colors on this fabric are black, 2 tones of gray, navy, brick red, lime green and white.

This is a unique chair and is ready to add a modern pop of color to your space.

Milo Baughman Matching Case Sofa and Chair Set

This set has been totally refinished, reupholstered and reimagined.  It was a bit of an ugly duckling when I had acquired it in both condition and styling.  However it's sleek low lines and beautifully figured walnut on the sides gave it potential.  I've had these in storage for almost 2 years trying to figure out what to do when I saw pictures of a Hans Wegner sofa that Carl Hansen and Sons just reissued using a fantastic fabric by Maharam.  The bold colors contrasted well with the walnut frame and I knew I had my inspiration.  Baughman was also known for using bold and large pattered fabrics on his upholstered pieces, so it only seemed fitting.  Modwerks would also have a modern reissue of a classic!

The sofa and chair are both reupholstered in the beautiful Maharam "Big Stripe" fabric in the "Spring" colorway.  Maharam has long been a supplier to the makers of the finest modern furnishings.  This fabric was a collaboration with designer Paul Smith.  It is an upholstery specific fabric constructed of 92% wool and a wear rating of 80,000 Martindale cycles.  Retail cost of this fabric would be more than an entire Ikea sofa.

All the cushions are newly made with zippered covers and high quality foam and dacron stuffing.  The walnut sides are completely refinished.  This set is, for all intent, new as every piece has been reconstructed and restored.  I just received them from my upholsterer and other than just to test, have not been sat in or used.  The will be stored indoors covered until someone purchases them.

This set would make a stylish addition to a hip new loft, a modernist home, an edgy business reception area or gallery.  Before you purchase a new sofa from Room and Board or Crate and Barrel or DWR, take a look at these unique, high quality vintage pieces.
