Broyhill Accent 8 Drawer Dresser

The "Accent" line isn't one of the better known furniture lines from Broyhill's Premier division, it took a little digging to find out what it was.  Never the less, it has some great little details that make it unique and timeless.  The legs are the first things I noticed.  The pendant shaped legs with a small brushed stainless ring are connected with a unique, sculpted stretcher in the front.  The brushed stainless pulls are a little reminiscent of the pulls used on the Sculptura line but these are smaller and wrap over the top of the drawer for a more contemporary look.  The drawer fronts all feature bookmatched veneers and overall the color and grain of the walnut used on this piece is warm and rich and show very well after being completely stripped, sanded and refinished.  The dresser is a good size that would fit many places and still offer ample storage.

Restored Modernist Bedroom Set by United Furniture

This unique set is often described as "brutalist" styled.  I'm not sure I totally agree with that assessment as it feels much more organic and less edgy than what I consider brutalist.  Regardless of how its classified it is a beautiful and artistic set that will command attention in the room that it is in.

As unusual as this set is, I've actually had the opportunity to work on some pieces from this line before.  I've restored another low dresser and matching chest and just as I was finishing them up, thinking I'd never see these again, this bedroom set popped up and I grabbed it.  Here is the write up I did for the first pieces.

As with the previous pieces, the most special part of these are the beautifully figured veneers that were used.  This is highlighted by the unique chevron lay-up of the veneer on the front panels.  This in combination with the sculpted figures makes for a very eye-catching aesthetic.  All the pieces have been stripped, sanded and refinished to bring out the best of all the materials and workmanship.

The set consists of a large, 9 drawer low credenza, an equally ample 6 drawer armoire that also has open storage, a double mirror that mounts to the low dresser, a commode style nightstand with a hidden drawer and open storage and a king sized headboard.  The headboard has built in lighting that is fully functioning that I upgraded to include dimmable LED lights.  Because of its uniqueness, I'm only offering to sell the set complete, I will not sell the pieces separately, with the exception of the headboard.  It is a unique piece but I also understand many people cannot accommodate a king size bed or may already have a bed.

Danish Selig Walnut Lounge Chair

Despite extensive searching, I can't come up with the designer of this particular chair.  With the dowel shaped arms and slat back my first guess would be Borge Jensen, but its just a guess at this point.  It has all the detail and construction quality typical of the Selig chairs of the era.  The frame is solid oiled walnut and is in great shape with a beautiful warm hue.  The chair was recently reupholstered with a light/medium blue fabric woven with light gray.  There are some fine threads of red and green in the fabric as well.  When it was reupholstered the seat deck straps were replaced and then reinforced with a padded fabric cover.  Unique to this chair are the upholstered arm rests that wrap up over the dowel arms on the frame.  Overall it is a comfy chair in beautiful condition.

Vintage Reproduction Barcelona Table

When I purchased this table I was told by the original owner they had had it quite some time.  However, because of the size of the glass and lack of marking on the frame I can only assume it is a reproduction.  The frame is in good shape with very few marks in the chrome and the weld at the "X" is clean and strong.  The original Barcelona table utilized 40" square glass.  The glass on this table is 36" square.  It is 3/4" thick with an 1/8" bevel and very slightly green tint.  There are no chips or cracks on the edges and only a few light scratches on the surface.  The glass probably weighs close to 100 lbs alone.

This a classic design that, with its simplicity, works well with many different styles.
