Restored Recliner by Milo Baughman for James Chair Inc.

An early version of an iconic design by Milo Baughman.  James Inc. was Thayer Coggin's first funiture company.  Coggin met Baughman in 1951 and started a 5 decade long collaboration of design and manufacturing.  Coggin's company later changed is name to reflect its founder, Thayer Coggin.

The importance of this chair design is evidenced by the fact that a variation of it is once again in production for Design Within Reach (with the integrated footrest).

Early versions, such as this one, did not have the integrated footrest.  The entire seating assembly reclines as one piece, so the angle between the back and the seat does not change.  With a place to prop your feet this chair is just as comfy in the reclined position as it is in the upright position.  The chair was just completely restored with the wood frame being refinished in a walnut color and the seat having all new padding and fabric.  The fabric is medium gray nubby wool woven on an indigo backing that subtly shows through.  The reclining mechanism is fully functioning making this chair look and function as nearly new.  As the cooler weather approches grab this chair to ad to your hip living space and get comfy with a book or watching a flick.

Dimensions: 29"W x 36"D x 40"H (at back) 16" seat height at center
